Have you ever been camping?
Yes, I’ve been camping more times than I can count—and every time, I fall in love with it all over again. There’s something about the simplicity of it, the way time slows down, that just speaks to me. My favorite place to camp? Toledo Bend, hands down. It’s like a little slice of peace tucked away from the rest of the world.
One of my absolute favorite things is sitting on the lake beach as the sun sets. There’s nothing quite like it—the sky turns shades of orange, pink, and gold, and for those few moments, everything feels calm.
But I’m not just there for the views. I love fishing from the boat. Perch fishing in Toledo Bend never disappoints.
Evenings are the best part. Winding down with my husband, our kids, and our dog around the campfire is a memory I treasure every time. We sit outside under the stars, listening to the rhythmic sounds of grasshoppers, locusts, and the distant hum of boats coming in off the water. It’s peaceful, grounding, and reminds me what life is really about.
Camping here isn’t just a trip—it’s a ritual. A time to reconnect with nature, with family, and with myself.
